 Inside me—fear.
 Not of demons,
 not of ghosts;
 those shadows left me long ago.
 My fear is this:
 that I can no longer meet the eyes of the stars 
without reproach,
 without remorse. At the village edge a church still stands.
 The roof caved in,
 the walls half-broken.
 Small, ruined—
 yet nowhere on earth is there a temple more my own.
 Christ on the cross greets those who enter.
 His arms spread wide,
 pierced by nails and bullets. My hands are empty.
 No gifts to bring.
 A handful of gratitude, 
 and a small heap of bitterness:
 that’s all that remains. And still—I come to You in trust,
 that You will accept the first 
and forgive the second. 
Today no bells— only my heart beating.
 No incense— only my prayer rising.
 Let its smoke be white:

 yet the sun already mercilessly burns the naked earth.
 The scent of wild herbs rises to the sky like incense
 and lends this yearly ritual a quiet grace.
 With humility, I bow and gather the flowers.
 Neither wind nor birds dare to disturb
 the sacred stillness of this moment. I think of winter.
 A day will come when snow covers the land.
 The winter sun will warm only with memories of summer.
 Then I will go and place a few flowers
 at the bottom of the teapot.
 When my lips touch the warm tea 
and I breathe in the scent of herbs once more—
 the warmth of this summer day

Літо. До обіду далеко. В тіні на листі ще лежить ранкова роса, але сонце вже нещадно пече оголену землю. Запах диких трав піднімається в небо наче ладан, і підкреслює щорічний ритуал. Покірно вклоняючись, я збираю квіти. Ані вітер, ані птахи не наважуються порушити священний спокій тієї миті.

 лишаю своє тіло насичуватися

 щоб про сни розповісти,
 про страхи дня,
 про радість і натхнення. Тихо ви!

It’s morning.
 The alarm clock says it’s time to go.
 Still, I don’t want to rise.
 Eyes closed,
 I let my body soak in your warmth. My thoughts stir,
 shouting over one another,
 urging me to hold you,
 to tell you my dreams,

 Годинник повідомляє — 
 кудись треба іти.
 Мені ще не хочеться пробуджуватись.
 Очі заплющені,
 лишаю своє тіло насичуватися 
 твоїм теплом. Повільно прокидаються мої думки.
 Починають перекрикувати одна одну,
 щоб тебе обіймати,
 щоб про сни розповісти,
 про страхи дня,
 про радість і натхнення. Тихо ви! 
 Стаю на захист твого сну. 
І лише легенько, майже непомітно,
 торкаюся твого чола губами.


Не треба тебе будити.

 a z úst stoupá pára.

 Vzduch těžkne smutkem konce léta.
 Dech vázne.
 Lačně se vystavuji slunci.
 Jen ať prostoupí každičký zákrut duše.
 Jako by bylo možné uchovat na zimu
 hrst paprsků.

 S každým výdechem 
mě opouští bezstarostnost
 a přichází odhodlanost.
 
Už jen krok a vládu převezme podzim.

 Nebudu plakat — slibuji.
 S ústy potřísněnými šťávou z ostružin
 a tvými polibky 
se rozloučím s létem. *** День ще тепло дихає в обличчя, 
 а ввечері, під дверима, 
 вже протискується всередину 
 осінній холод. 
 Вранці виходжу надвір 
 — ноги вологі від роси — 
 і з уст підіймається пара. 
 Повітря важчає від смутку кінця літа. 
 Дихати складно. 
 Жадібно піддаюся сонцю. 
Хай воно проймає кожен куточок душі. Наче можна було б приберегти на зиму 
 шматочок проміння.
 Подих за подихом 
 полишає мене безтурботність, 
і вступає рішучість. 
Ще крок —
 і владу перейме осінь. Обіцяю — не буду плакати, 
 а з устами, заплямованими соком ожини 
 та твоїми поцілунками, 
 попрощаюся з літом.]]>

 ale pode dveřmi se už dovnitř prodírá
 podzimní chlad.
 Ráno vyjdu ven
 — nohy zmáčené rosou —
 a z úst stoupá pára.

 Vzduch těžkne smutkem konce léta.
 Dech vázne.
 Lačně se vystavuji slunci.
 Jen ať prostoupí každičký zákrut duše.
 Jako by bylo možné uchovat na zimu
